The predicted threat from the Liberal Democrats actually translated to the current Conservative MP, Rob Wilson, strengthening his majority to 7,605 and retaining his seat.

However,  Liberal Democrat candidate Gareth Epps did succeed in pushing Labour down into 3rd place despite them having been close behind Rob Wilson in 2005.
