Barry Weston was born in Reading and played youth rugby at Abbey RFC during the decade of 1981- 1991, when he left to become a marine. His death in Helmand Province on Tuesday 30 August whilst on active duty will be grieved by all those who knew him and his family.

The Fox and Hounds in Gosbrook Road has been taken over by the owners of the Two Bridges Brewery in Caversham, Kevin and Kerri Durkan. They will also be moving the brewery to the pub.
They have redecorated the pub which includes some memorabealia of The Beatles because as many know Lennon and McCartney played at the pub when they were teenagers in 1960, before forming the Beatles.

Thames Valley police has warned local schools that there has recently been a number of attempted abductions in the Caversham area, with at least one being near the Albert Road park.
A man, said to be driving a green Nissan car, attempted to lure young boys into his car. No further details are currently available.
We ask everyone to be particularly vigilant, warn their children and report anything suspicious to the police.

Councils have a Duty to collect Household Waste under Section 45 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA). However, charges for the collection of Garden Waste are permitted under the EPA Section 45.3.(a), through the Controlled Waste Regulations 1992, Section 4 (Schedule 2, Section 3).
