A year of festivities to celebrate life in Caversham has been launched to mark 100 years of the village becoming part of Reading.

Ram raiders struck Reading Abbey RFC at approximately 2am on Sunday morning.

They used a vehicle to ram through the barrier to the property and then through the side entrance of the members’ bar. The thieves made off mainly with alcohol and caused a mess to some of the club house.

Crime is down again in Lower Caversham (figures for Jan-Mar 2010 display an overall drop of 18.9%) Compared to the same period 2009.  For more information on UK crime stats, see the following: http://maps.police.uk/view/thames-valley.  However, as longer evenings offer the potential for increased anti-social behaviour (ASB), we need our residents to stay vigilant in reporting any disturbances.
