Reading Festival returns 26 – 28 August 2011

Yes, another year has passed and Reading Festival returns next weekend.

The full Reading Festival 2011 line up can be found here.

Given the close proximity of the festival to Caversham, opinion is often divided amongst its residents. The festival does bring with it some trouble and minor inconvenience but it puts money into the local economy and over the last few years better policing has clearly been evident.

A unique market specialising in pre-loved baby and children’s goods will arrive in Caversham on Saturday 10th September.

The baby and children’s markets are already a real success across Berkshire attracting hundreds of parents each weekend to grab bargains for their little ones. The ever popular festival returns this weekend and don’t worry about adverse weather – they have a massive marquee.

9 July 2011 Grand Fete – Caversham Court Caversham from 1.45PM

Throughout the afternoon there will be all the traditional attractions of a typical church fete, including bouncy castle and face painting for children; sideshows such as tombolas, coconut shy, hoop-la etc; stalls selling home-made cakes, books, bric-a-brac, plants and other items; and a balloon race.

Provisional timetable of activities:

2pm – Opening by Rev. Dan Tyndall

Reading Haydn Choir Spring Concert at Caversham Heights Methodist Church on 26th March

The Reading Haydn Choir is returning for its Spring Concert at Caversham Heights Methodist Church on 26th March at 7:30pm. We will be performing an evening of Rossini, including the magnificent ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’, for which we will be joined by four exceptional soloists:

Caversham Heath Walks

Every Monday and the last Saturday of the month at 10.30am.

Meet at the Balmore Park surgery car park. No need to book, just turn up 5 minutes beforehand. Please do not park in the surgery car park!

Join us for a pleasant, mainly flat 30-40 minute walk.

The walks are free and led by volunteers. Dogs on leads are welcome.
