Reading Real Ale and Jazz festival 21-23 July 2011

The ever popular festival returns this weekend and don’t worry about adverse weather – they have a massive marquee.

For this this year’s music line up they have tried to mix things up, bring in some fresh new talent, whilst keeping a few favorites from last year.

9 July 2011 Grand Fete – Caversham Court Caversham from 1.45PM

Throughout the afternoon there will be all the traditional attractions of a typical church fete, including bouncy castle and face painting for children; sideshows such as tombolas, coconut shy, hoop-la etc; stalls selling home-made cakes, books, bric-a-brac, plants and other items; and a balloon race.

Provisional timetable of activities:

1.45pm – St Peter’s Church bells ring

2pm – Opening by Rev. Dan Tyndall

2-3.15pm – Berkshire Maestros Holst Band & the Kennet Morris Men.

Car or house alarm nuisance

I would just like to thank the person whose house or car alarm went off for most of last night around the Bugs Bottom and Caversham Heights area. Not only did it wake me up a number of times but it also disturbed my children. Reading Abbey U14s and U15s entertain Dutch side

Glorious sunshine on Good Friday set the scene for the visit of RC Eemland from the Netherlands to play a combined U15/U14 Abbey team.
